Spring is here and man, am I excited. Warmer days, daylight savings, spring carnival and all-round good feels are right around the corner. A new season is a great excuse for a shopping spree and to save you trawling the shops for the perfect spring fashion pieces, I've done the hard work for you.
I discovered this newly rebranded Melbourne label at their runway show at Melbourne Spring Fashion Week and now I'm a little bit obsessed. I really love this split-back chambray shirt, it looks fab worn over a striped shirt (like the Witchery one further down in this post) and would also work well on its own paired a pair of high-waisted jeans (you can check out pics of me styling this shirt at MSFW here
). It's made of 100% Lyocell (AKA Tencel), which is super soft and a lovely fabric to wear.
This Sportsgirl shirt
is a little on the cheaper side, but also made of the same fabric and the split at the back is a little more modest.
OnceWas Split Back Chambray Shirt – $149.95'
Ok, I know the denim onesie one is a love it or hate it thing, but I totally love it. A mix of the utilitarian and 70s trends, this jumpsuit is great for those slightly cooler spring days. Throw on a pair of strappy heels and you could even wear it out for Friday night drinks! Word of warning though, jumpsuits like this don't make toilet breaks easy.
This Sass & Bide jumpsuit
is quite possibly the coolest new season piece to grace my Instagram feed. Rachel Zoe and Cheyenne Tozzi have both rocked it and given me serious fashion envy in the process.
Country Road Denim Jumpsuit – $179
As you can see, denim is having a serious moment and I'm in love with this adorable little number from Spanish label M.N.G. Made to be paired with white tennis shoes or tan wedges, this style epitomises casual spring style. Just make sure you've got your tan on!
M.N.G. Angelina Dress – $79.95
This flat has to be the shoe of the season. The style was made famous by luxury Italian brand Aquazzura
and despite now being on the shelves of almost every store in the city, these are just too cute to dismiss over fears of becoming too common. Any girl who has worn a pair of ballet flats will know all too well that they are usually nowhere near as comfortable as they look, but lace-up styles are great because you can buy them half a size bigger than your standard ballets without the risk of heel slippage. Not to mention the pointed toe on these babies make for a super polished look.
Sportsgirl have this style for just $69.95 (shop here
) and while I personally have a genuine phobia of non-leather shoes, these should still get you through the season.
Wittner Shary Lace-up Flats – $149.95
Rounding out my denim picks is this cute little a-line skirt from Bardot. Wear it during the day with a tucked-in shirt and flats, or dress it up at night with a black bodysuit and heels. You'll be seriously channeling the 70s trend.
I actually first fell in love with this style of skirt when I saw it the Alexa Chung X AG collection
. I'm not sure if I'm willing to spend $300 on a skirt, even though I'm positive it will sit, fit and feel a lot better than the Bardot knock-off.
Bardot Denim A-line Mini Skirt – $59.95
This shirt, white ankle crop jeans, espadrilles, a yacht, cute guys... Ok now I'm just daydreaming. There's something about a striped button-down that oozes nonchalant style. This would look great tucked into the denim skirt above or could even be styled for work. So versatile!
Witchery Fine Stripe Shirt – $99.95
There are a million brands making white tennis shoes but if you want to be super retro, this pair by Superga is the way to go. Italian brand Superga have been making tennis shoes for over 100 years (since 1911 to be exact) so its fair to assume they've got the formula right by now. Tennis shoes are a current celebrity favourite (check out the trend here
) so why not jump on the bandwagon and be crazy comfortable while you do it.
Sportsgirl have white tennis shoes
for just 40 bucks!
Superga White Tennis Shoes – $89.95
If you've been following fashion pages on Instagram, no doubt you have seen this watch. Cult brand The Horse have produced a gorgeous range of classic leather watches – I seriously want them all! This one with the nude band with the rose gold accents is my favourite, followed closely by the all-black style. Plus, at less than $140, they're a steal!
The Horse Watch – $139
All great outfits need a great bag, so here's my pick from Mimco's new range. As far as I'm concerned, hip bags are the great invention since the lightbulb because I can sling one over my body and totally forget it's there. The perforated leather and tassel detail make this bag super interesting, yet one that you'll still be able to wear for seasons ahead.
Mimo Catalyst Mini Pouche – $299
